El Arenal Brown female figure (figurine)

Standing female figure of fine, hollow pottery. Excavated as part of a grave group.

Buff pottery, painted in brown with a decorative pattern round mouth, nose, eyes, breasts, and lower part of body from waist to tops of legs. The figure has aa thick-set body and a flattened forehead, with hair or a headdress modelled and painted on. She holds a bowl up to her left shoulder. She wears bracelets on her right arm, and multiple earrings and noserings. Surface decoration of burnished slip, with decoration on face, breasts, stomach and hips imitating tattoos or painted body decoration.

El Arenal Brown, a type so far found only in the burials of the Magdalena Lake area

Broken in several places and repaired.
