Garment fragment, pieces of Chinese short-sleeved gown cut to make European man's waistcoat, made from. Silk, deep red, embroidered in three tones of blue and white silk in satin-stitch: bats, butterflies, flowers and fruit. Edged in black and lined with pale blue floral damask-weave silk. Back of European waistcoat made of part of the two front panels of Chinese gown, stitched together with original lining and bottom border. Mounted on board with N4177 B and N4178 A:1.
