crouched burial, male mummy (coffin)

Crouched burial of a human adult male. The naturally mummified body of an old man, buried in the crouched position in a box of sycomore fig wood. He had firstly been loosely wrapped in fine linen, each limb wrapped separately, then ropes of medium textured cloth were bound round each limb and the trunk and lastly a long piece of linen was twisted up and doubled and carried under knees and behind his neck where it was tied. He is in a wooden box with no lid. No grave goods were buried with the body.
