The 'Hotwell' plate. Painted in cobalt blue on off-white glaze; brown painted rim. The plate depicts a view of the Avon Gorge: four large sailing ships and eight boats sail between tall cliffs; buildings on the right bank, one building on the left. Idenitfied as 'A View of ye Hot Well // near BRISTOL', adapted from an engraving by J. Mynde after William Halfpenny. 'Noughts-&-crosses ' underrim markings and ISF 1741/2 on the reverse.
