Sikh haar (haar)

Gold tinsel and fabric covered haar. Front section is a blunt edged triangular shap, with two long sections attached and gold ties at the top. backed with cadboard and floral paper. Designed to be worn around the neck, with all decoration worn at the front of the body. Of the type used for many Sikh celebrations, including weddings, when they are put around the groom's neck by the bride's family as a welcome. Fresh or plastic flower garlands are also used, and haars like this one are a modern equivilent of the traditional garlands. Wedding haars can be very elaborate and beautiful with pearls and tissue flowers.
